The information and publicity resource “Say No to Drugs!” has been established with the financial support of the Russian Federation’s Ministry for the Affairs of the Press, TV and Radio Broadcasting, and mass media. It is an official web-site for the Government’s Commission on Fighting Drug Abuse and Illegal Turnover. In our work we come from the fundamental principle about drugs being unequivocal social evil. We strive to persuade those who use this site that:

• While used non-medically, no matter what individual substance is in question, it will never produce expected results
• Any problem whatever, be it even the most painful one, can and should be solved without resorting to illegal drugs
• Drug-induced intoxication can never give one either genuine liberty, or insights and revelations, or expansion of horizons of his/her cognitive power

Information support for our site is provided by Russian Federation (RF) Ministry of Interior, the Information-and-analytical department of the Federal Frontier Service, the RF Public Health Ministry and the State Customs Committee, which provides information “from the horse’s mouth” and stipulates the structure of our home page, clearly in line with its topic “Say No to Drugs!”.

The section “Law” offers you legal information about international Conventions and Agreements, Decrees of President of the Russian Federation, articles of the Criminal and Administrative Codes of the Russian Federation, the full text of the Federal Programme “Complex Measures to Withstand Abuse and Illegal Drugs Trade”, reviews of foreign legislative acts in the area of combatting illegal trade and abuse of drugs.

The section titled “Operative Data” contains summaries and analytical articles written by Interior Ministry’s and Federal Frontier and Customs Ministries’ experts, topical interviews and comments from high-level sate officials.

The section “Materials from the Government Commission” has presentations and minutes of sessions of the Government’s Commission on Fighting Drug Abuse and Illegal Turnover.

The section “When Trouble Is Knocking on Your Door” provides information about the most widely used drugs, offering counsel as to the prevention of drug abuse, with information about peculiarities of psychology of children and teenagers using drugs.

The on-line “Specialist Medical Room” is opened in the section “Your Health”. Here you can consult well-known Russian specialists and get official information from the Russian Public Health Ministry experts engaged in the area of narcomania treatment, as well as information on the psychological aspects of the dependent behaviour.

The section “World Outlook” offers opinions of representatives of different religious confessions on the drug dependence and massive distribution of drugs. They include Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, and others. Besides, the site informs you of various competitions involving people of creative professions. What is to be underlined is the unique research “Drugs in Russia. A Historical Cross-Section”, covering the lapse of time from ancient times up to the present day.

The section “Culture” will have interviews with workers of art, artists, poets, writers and musicians, as well as information about the activities of the young people’s anti-drug campaign “Choose Your Way”.

The section “Mass Media” gives the visitor materials on anti-drug activities covered in the press and on the Internet. It will also have scripts of topical TV and radio programmes. The site also has its own vast archives of photos and videos.

The activities of people engaged in the preparation of material for the site are not limited to the Internet. In 2002 only our experts held two instruction workshops for the journalists, writing on the topic of fighting drug abuse, a workshop for the teaching profession and rendered assistance to the young people’s campaign “Choose Your Way”.

What we want is to persuade you to stay alive.

Our site was created exactly for the purpose, for which it exists and will continue to exist.
